Fumari supports local businesses in exempting hookah from SB 38

22nd May 2019

Fumari collaborated with local businesses and other hookah industry leaders to carve out a hookah exemption to SB 38. Senate Bill 38 would have prohibited California retailers from selling, offering for sale, or possessing with the intent to sell or offer for sale, a flavored tobacco product.

The exemption of hookah was made possible by the efforts of Hookah Chamber of Commerce, Arnie Abramyan, George Jonson, Hookah John, Afrack Vargas, Yanni Albana, Majdi Karadsheh and the rest of the Fumari team. We also give great thanks to our Senators for their amazing work and receptiveness of the minority communities across California.

Our policy and advocacy efforts are not done. We need your support to overcome similar flavor bans in Los Angeles and other cities. Please join Hookah Chamber of Commerce to get updates on bills threatening the future of hookah in California and get involved in the fight to save our businesses and cultural rights.
