HOOKAH FAQ

How do I set up my Hookah?
View Hookah set-up instructions here.

I'm not getting enough smoke from my hookah, what am I doing wrong?
The most general reason is your Hookah is not air tight. Double check the connections between the metal stem and glass base, metal stem and the hose, and metal stem and clay bowl. After you've checked to ensure your Hookah is airtight, the other reason could be that you do not have enough charcoals on the clay bowl. Make sure to keep the charcoal around the edge of the Hookah bowl. Also, make sure there is only 1-2 inches of water above the stem line. If there is too much or too little water the Hookah will not smoke properly. Finally, make sure your clay bowl is not clogged. Sometimes the tobacco gets stuck in the holes of the clay bowl.

The smoke is too harsh, why is that?
The most likely reason is that you have too many charcoals on your bowl. Remove some charcoals and if it is still harsh then that means you burnt the tobacco and will have to refill a new bowl. Another problem could be too many/too big holes poked into the aluminum foil.

How long should each bowl last?
The average bowl with two to three smokers should last anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour.

How often should I clean my Hookah?
We recommend that you clean your Hookah shaft, base, and bowl after every four or five uses. Clean your hose, by blowing through it, after every use (do not clean your hose with water unless your hose was sold as a washable hose). Never use chemicals to clean your hookah. Maintaining a clean Hookah is necessary for providing an enjoyable smoke every time.

What kind of charcoal I should use?
We recommend that you use smokeless/odorless charcoal that has silver coating around it for easy lighting.

How should I light the charcoal?
We recommend you use a regular kitchen stove (electric) to light our coals. Simply place them directly on the burner and leave them there until they are glowing red. This usually takes around 2 minutes. If you have a gas stove, it is a little more tricky to balance the coals over the flames, but it works the same way. If you do not have a stove available, you can also use a regular lighter to ignite the charcoal. Hold a piece with your tongs (carefully, they may get hot) and light until just one end is glowing. As you continue to smoke your Hookah, you will want to add more charcoal approximately every 15 minutes. Since these are self-igniting coals, you can just place a new piece atop the already burning coal and keep smoking.
